Quick Update: Trial Date & Lawsuit Settlement

Hi all, just some quick updates—

AUG 12 UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: the Aug 19 trial date has been rescheduled. As you may notice, this kind of thing is how charges brought in January of 2022 regarding a protest in Dec of 2021 are still wasting everyone’s time and a whole city’s very finite resources. A trial for two of us on felony littering charges has been delayed over and over since the state’s failed first attempt in April of 2023, but it currently looks likely that a trial will begin on August 19. We do not yet have specific requests about support or presence in the courtroom, but we probably will; please keep an eye out. 

We also want to share that we’ve won a settlement in our lawsuit challenging the City’s park bans; not only are we no longer banned, but the policy which under which we were banned has been rewritten. We will share some details about the policy changes and why they matter soon. For now, here is an article that shares a bit about where we’re at.
