Support Requested!

Hey y’all,

One of the first two defendants being taken to trial on felony littering charges has a court date Monday morning at 10 a.m., and they request supportive presence (see graphic below)!

Part of this administrative hearing will be their lawyer withdrawing, because she’s accepted a position in a different city. We are close to the amount needed to retain different representation but not quite there; any support you can offer via Venmo (@avldefendantfund) or cashapp ($avldeffund) would be so helpful. The City of Asheville and the Buncombe County DA’s office have chosen to spend untold public resources on this process, now at 20 months and counting, instead of addressing real material needs in our city. With 16 people navigating felony charges and all the life stuff that comes with that, costs have added up for us, too.
